Scope

This document defines the requirements for the physical layer and data link layer of vehicle communication interfaces and test equipment based on the IEEE 802.3 100BASE-TX standard.
This document is applicable to the design of the physical layer and data link layer of vehicle communication interfaces and test equipment based on the IEEE 802.3 100BASE-TX standard.
This interface provides a physical connection basis for IP-based communication between vehicles and test equipment. This document specifies the following aspects:
—— Requirements for signal and wiring diagrams to ensure the physical layer compatibility of vehicle interfaces, Ethernet networks, and test equipment communication interfaces;
—— Discovery/identification of on-board Ethernet diagnostic interfaces;
—— Activation and deactivation of on-board Ethernet diagnostic interfaces;
—— Mechanical and electrical requirements for diagnostic connectors;
—— Definition of two Ethernet pin assignments.
