Scope

This standard specifies the terms, classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, transportation, and storage of flexible damping spring couplings (hereinafter referred to as couplings). This standard applies to the design, manufacture, and acceptance of couplings used in diesel engine power units such as ships, diesel locomotives, diesel generator sets, heavy vehicles, and industrial diesel engine power units to adjust the natural frequency of mechanical system torsional vibration and reduce the amplitude of vibration during resonance.
