Scope

This standard specifies the materials, dimensions, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and markings of inflatable rubber fenders (hereinafter referred to as fenders) for ships and offshore facilities. This standard applies to the design, manufacture, and acceptance of fenders used for side protection during berthing or anchoring of ships and offshore facilities. This standard does not address safety in use. Users should develop corresponding safety measures for use as a supplement to this standard.
