Scope

This section specifies the indentation hardness (Shore hardness) test method for vulcanized rubber or thermoplastic rubber using the following scales: — Scale A, suitable for the general hardness range. The hardness tester using Scale A is called the Shore A hardness tester; — Scale D, suitable for the high hardness range. The hardness tester using Scale D is called the Shore D hardness tester; — Scale AO, suitable for low hardness rubber and sponges. The hardness tester using Scale AO is called the Shore AO hardness tester; — Scale AM, suitable for thin samples in the general hardness range. The hardness tester using Scale AM is called the Shore AM hardness tester.
