Scope

This part of GB/T 24811 specifies two methods for selecting steel wire ropes used in lifting machinery as defined in GB/T 6974.1. One is based on the selection coefficient C of the steel wire rope, and the other is based on the utilization (safety) factor ZP.
This part specifies the minimum requirements for the allowable strength and performance grade of steel wire ropes according to the design, application, and maintenance requirements of cranes.
This part specifies the minimum requirements for the diameter of drums and pulleys related to the selected steel wire ropes.
The types of lifting machinery applicable to this part are listed in Appendix A.
