This standard applies to hydrogenated edible oil-based food additives, such as hydroxystearic acid (also known as oxidized stearic acid), which are processed through steps including melting, decolorization, heat reaction, and filtration. Hydroxystearic acid (also known as oxidized stearic acid) is a mixture of partially oxidized stearic acid and other fatty acid glycerides.
