Scope

Within the basic scope described in GB/T 17971.1, this part of GB/T 17971 specifies the letter assignment for the number partition ZN0 of the keypad with the number layout from 0 to 9 and "1-2-3". The layout specified in this part is designed for use in information technology equipment keyboards that replace numbers with letters, and is suitable for memorizing numerical information.
On keyboards that also include alphanumeric areas, letters should not be used in the number partition ZN0 to memorize numerical information. Using two different sets of alphanumeric symbols in different ways can cause confusion for keyboard users.
