Scope
Within the basic scope described in GB/T 17971.1, Chapter 5 of this part of GB/T 17971 defines the keyboard allocation of graphic character sets, which can be input. These graphic character sets are defined in A.4.1 "281(MES-1)" of GB 13000—2010. When allocating these characters, the keyboard layout standards of various countries and the layout of the supplementary Latin group in Chapter 6 of this part are combined.
Note: MES-1 (Multi-Language European Character Subset) allows the representation of 40 recognized European languages based on the Latin alphabet (plus Afrikaans).
This part is mainly used in word processing and text processing applications.
