Scope

This standard specifies two methods for determining the moisture and volatile matter content in animal and vegetable oils: — Method A, using a sand bath or an electric heating plate. — Method B, using a drying oven. Method A of this standard is applicable to all animal and vegetable oils, while Method B is only applicable to non-dried animal and vegetable oils with an acid value of less than 4. This standard is not applicable to the analysis of laurel oil.
