Scope

This document specifies the basic safety requirements for local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems to prevent or avoid human exposure to airborne pollutants in industrial environments.
This document applies to the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of fixed industrial local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems, and mobile exhaust ventilation systems can also be used as a reference.
This document is not suitable for local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems used for the following purposes:
—— Comfort ventilation;
—— Delivering air as part of an industrial process;
—— Not primarily intended to protect personnel;
—— Energy conservation;
—— Handling radioactive materials;
—— Special purposes, special purification, and special protection requirements.
