Scope

This document specifies the important dimensions related to the mechanical interchangeability of the EP-type magnetic cores made of ferrite, the basic dimensions of the coil frames used with the magnetic cores, and the position of the coil frame terminals relative to the bottom contour of the magnetic cores on a 2.50 mm pitch printed circuit board grid. It also provides guidelines for calculating the effective parameter values of such magnetic cores and sets out the permissible limits for surface defects of EP-type magnetic cores.
This document can be used as a sub-guidelines in the negotiations between magnetic core manufacturers and users regarding surface defects.
Appendix A provides general considerations for the design of such magnetic cores.
