Scope
This document specifies the important dimensions of the PQ-type magnetic cores and low-profile PQI-type magnetic cores made of ferrite in terms of mechanical interchangeability, as well as the position of the coil skeleton terminals related to the bottom contour of the magnetic cores on a 2.54 mm pitch printed circuit board grid, and provides guidelines for the allowable limits of surface defects of PQ-type magnetic cores in accordance with relevant general specifications. The selection of magnetic core specifications in this document is based on the principle that these specifications are determined according to industry practices and may either be included in national standards or be widely used specifications within the industry. This document can be used as a sub-guideline in negotiations between magnetic core manufacturers and users regarding surface defects. Appendix A provides general considerations for the design of such magnetic cores.
