GB/T 12688.5-2011 Test method of styrene for industrial use—Part 5:Determination of content of total aldehydes—Titrimetric method
Basic Information
Scope
This part specifies the method for determining the total aldehyde content in industrial styrene.
This part is applicable to the determination of styrene samples with a total aldehyde content of 10 mg/kg to 300 mg/kg.
The total aldehyde content is calculated and reported in the form of benzaldehyde. If ketones are present in the sample, they may interfere with the determination.
This part is not intended to address all safety issues related to its use. It is the user's responsibility to establish appropriate safety and health measures to ensure compliance with relevant national regulations.
Note: Styrene is flammable and will undergo an exothermic polymerization reaction when in contact with peroxides, inorganic acids, and aluminum trichloride. High concentrations of liquid styrene and its vapors can be irritating to the eyes and respiratory system.
