Scope

This document explains and provides methods for the production of standard samples in the following aspects:
—— Uniformity evaluation;
—— Stability evaluation and risk management related to the stability of characteristics;
—— Determination and assignment of standard sample characteristics;
—— Uncertainty evaluation of standard values;
—— Establishment of traceability of standard values to measurement standards.
This document provides support for the implementation of ISO 17034. As long as the requirements of ISO 17034 are met, other methods can also be used.
This document provides a brief guide to the requirements of interchangeability evaluation (6.11), but does not provide technical details; it briefly introduces the methods of determining qualitative characteristics (9.6 to 9.10) and provides a brief guide to sampling for uniformity testing of such standard samples (Chapter 7), but does not cover statistical methods for evaluating the uniformity and stability of qualitative standard samples. This document is also not applicable to multivariate quantities, such as spectral data.
