Scope

Scope: This document specifies the technical requirements for medicinal red ginseng of the "Fusong Ginseng" brand, including specifications, grades, technical requirements, testing methods, inspection rules, and traceability management. This document applies to the quality supervision and brand evaluation of medicinal red ginseng of the "Fusong Ginseng" brand. Main technical content: 4. Grades and specifications 4.1 Grades 4.1.1 The grade of medicinal whole-needle red ginseng shall comply with the requirements of Table 1. Table 1: Grade requirements for medicinal whole-needle red ginseng First-grade products Second-grade products Main root: The main root should be spindle-shaped, cylindrical, or flattened, with a length ≥ 7 cm and a diameter ≥ 1 cm. At the lower part, there should be 2-3 coarse and uniform side roots with curved needles. The overall needles should be complete and intact. Surface: The needles should be semi-transparent, reddish-brown, and glossy. Occasionally, there may be opaque dark yellow-brown spots, vertical grooves, wrinkles, and fine root marks on the surface; at the upper part, there may sometimes be discontinuous faint rings. Texture: The cross-section should be horn-like and firm, without a green heart or empty center. It should have a pleasant aroma and a sweet, slightly bitter taste. No insect damage, mold, or damage should be present; no disease scars should exceed 15%. Note: Products below the second grade shall be used as medicinal input materials for "Fusong Ginseng". 4.1.2 The grade of medicinal light-needle red ginseng shall comply with the requirements of Table 2.
