GB/T 15173-2026 Electroacoustics—Sound calibrators

Scope

This document specifies the performance requirements for three levels of sound calibrators: laboratory standard (LS), Level 1, and Level 2. The acceptance limits for LS level are the lowest, and those for Level 2 are the highest. LS-level sound calibrators are typically used only in laboratories, while Level 1 and Level 2 sound calibrators are intended for on-site use. According to IEC 61672-1, Level 1 sound calibrators are primarily used with Level 1 sound level meters, and Level 2 sound calibrators are primarily used with Level 2 sound level meters.
The acceptance limits for LS-level sound calibrators are based on verifying compliance with the requirements of this document using laboratory standard microphones specified in GB/T 20441.1—2010. The acceptance limits for Level 1 and Level 2 sound calibrators are based on verifying compliance with the requirements of this document using working standard microphones specified in GB/T 20441.4—2006.
To promote consistency and ease of use in sound calibrator testing, this document includes three normative appendices:
——Appendix A: Type evaluation test;
——Appendix B: Periodic test;
——Appendix C: Type evaluation report.
As well as two informative appendices:
——Appendix D: Relationship between tolerance intervals, corresponding acceptance intervals, and maximum allowable measurement uncertainty;
——Appendix E: Example of evaluating compliance with the requirements of this document.
This document does not include requirements for equivalent free-field sound pressure levels or irregularly incident sound pressure levels that can be used to adjust the overall sensitivity of sound level meters.
Some sound calibrators offer additional functions, such as burst sound, which are not included in the requirements of this document.
