Scope

This part of GB/T 4498 specifies two methods for determining the ash content of raw rubber, compounded rubber, and vulcanized rubber using a thermal gravimetric analyzer (TGA).
This part is applicable to the determination of the ash content of raw rubber, compounded rubber, and vulcanized rubber of types M, O, R, and U as specified in GB/T 5576.
—— Method A is suitable for determining the ash content of raw rubber.
—— Method B is suitable for determining the ash content of compounded rubber and vulcanized rubber.
This part does not include the determination of ash generated by inorganic chemical components in compounded rubber or vulcanized rubber.
Note: These two methods may not necessarily yield the same results.
