GB/T 24131-2009 Rubber,raw—Determination of volatile matter content
Basic Information
Scope
This standard specifies two methods for determining the moisture and other volatile matter content in raw rubber: the hot roll method and the oven method.
This standard is applicable to the determination of the volatile matter content of rubber included in Group "R" in GB/T 5576—1997. Group "R" rubber refers to rubber containing unsaturated carbon chains, such as natural rubber and synthetic rubber polymerized at least partially from dienes.
This standard may also be applicable to the determination of other types of rubber. In this case, it should be verified that the change in quality is solely due to the loss of original volatile matter and not due to the degradation of the rubber.
The hot roll method is not suitable for natural rubber and synthetic isoprene rubber, or rubber that is difficult to handle on a hot roll, nor is it suitable for sheet or powdered rubber.
These two methods may not yield the same results. Therefore, in cases of dispute, it is advisable to use Oven Method A.
