Scope

This section specifies detailed technical requirements for the electrical and mechanical structures of emergency brake devices with mechanical latching functions, as well as testing requirements. This section applies to electrical control circuits, electrical devices, and switching elements that provide emergency brake signals. These electrical devices may come with their own casings, or they may be installed according to the manufacturer's instructions. This section does not apply to: — emergency brake devices used in non-electrical control loops (such as hydraulic and pneumatic systems); — emergency brake devices without mechanical latching functions. An emergency brake device may also be used to provide an emergency shutdown function (see Appendix A).
