Scope
This document specifies the general and safety requirements for DC or AC electronic ballasts. The power supply includes AC power sources with a frequency of 50 Hz/60 Hz and a voltage of less than 1,000 V. Such ballasts are converters equipped with triggering and stabilizing components, which can operate discharge lamps at DC or at a frequency different from that of the power supply. The lamps matched with the ballasts are specified in IEC 60188, IEC 60192, IEC 60662, IEC 61167, and other general lighting source standards. This section does not include ballasts for fluorescent lamps or those used for special lamps in theaters and motor vehicles.
