Scope

This document specifies the special requirements for starting devices (except glow starters and triggers) for fluorescent lamps and other discharge lamps using AC power sources of 50 Hz or 60 Hz and below 1,000 V. The starting device can generate a starting pulse no greater than 100 kV and is used with lamps and ballasts specified in standards such as IEC 60081, IEC 60188, IEC 60192, IEC 60662, IEC 60901, IEC 61167, IEC 61195, IEC 61199, GB/T 19510.208—2023, and GB/T 19510.209—2023.
This document does not apply to glow starters, starting devices installed in discharge lamps, or manually operated starting devices. The requirements for preheating transformers for fluorescent lamps are given in GB/T 19510.208—2023.
Note: Glow starters are specified in GB/T 20550—2013.
Performance requirements are specified in IEC 60927:2013.
