Scope

This part of GB/T 9279 specifies a test method for determining the scratch resistance of a single layer or composite coating system of color paints, varnishes, or related products under specified conditions using a stylus loaded with a specified load. The stylus should penetrate the substrate, except for the case of composite coating systems, where the stylus can penetrate either the substrate or the intermediate coating. This test method can be carried out according to the following requirements: -- As a "pass/fail" test, i.e., a test is conducted by applying a specified load to the stylus to evaluate whether it meets the requirements of a specific specification; -- By gradually increasing the load on the stylus, the minimum load required to penetrate the coating is determined.
