Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, method overview, testing personnel requirements, testing equipment, basic requirements, testing preparation, setting and calibration of the testing system, testing procedures, analysis of testing data, defect evaluation, and testing reports for phased array ultrasonic testing of welded joints in polyethylene (PE) gas pipelines.
This standard applies to phased array ultrasonic testing of electrical fusion joints with a nominal diameter of 40 mm to 400 mm and thermal fusion butt joints with a nominal diameter of 75 mm to 400 mm in polyethylene gas pipelines. Phased array ultrasonic testing of welded joints in other polyethylene pipelines can be carried out in accordance with this standard.
