Scope

This document specifies the safety requirements for circular saw blades, hole-type milling cutters, shank milling cutters, and milling cutters integrated with spindles (hereinafter referred to as "cutting tools") used in woodworking machines for cutting wood and materials with similar physical properties to wood. It describes the corresponding testing and safe working methods, and stipulates the content of marking, maintenance, and handling. This document does not address any hazards related to the strength of the shank of shank milling cutters.
This document addresses the hazards related to cutting tools listed in Appendix A (List of Hazards).
This document applies to the design, manufacture, and use of cutting tools.
This document does not apply to drills, eccentric single notch milling cutters, milling cutters with a cutting diameter of less than 16 mm, cutters used on lathes and profile lathes with rotating knives, or the design, manufacture, and use of cutters produced before the date of publication of this document.
