GB/T 16840.2-2021 Technical determination methods for electrical fire evidence—Part 2:Residual magnetism method

Scope

This document specifies the principles, instruments, equipment, materials, samples, methods and steps, and criteria of the residual magnetism detection method in the technical appraisal of electrical fire trace evidence. This document is applicable to fire accident investigations. When no short-circuit melt marks or lightning strike melt marks are found at the scene of a building fire, the residual magnetism data obtained from the detection of ferromagnetic metal conductors can be used to determine whether a large current short-circuit or lightning strike has occurred.
