Scope

This document specifies the principles, equipment, instruments, reagents, samples, method steps, and component characteristics of the Auger analysis method in the technical appraisal of electrical fire trace evidence. This document is applicable to the component analysis of the holes on the cross-section of the short-circuit melt marks of copper wires extracted from the fire scene using an Auger electron spectrometer during fire investigation, so as to determine whether the short-circuit melt marks of copper wires are primary or secondary short-circuit melt marks.
