Scope

This part of GB/T 4340 specifies the inspection and calibration methods for the Vickers hardness tester (hereinafter referred to as the hardness tester) used to determine Vickers hardness according to GB/T 4340.1.
This part is applicable to the direct inspection method for inspecting the basic functions of the hardness tester and the indirect inspection method for comprehensive inspection of the hardness tester. The indirect inspection method can be used independently for regular periodic inspections of the hardness tester in use.
If the hardness tester can also be used for hardness testing by other methods, the hardness tester should be inspected separately for each method.
This part is also applicable to portable hardness testers.
