GB/T 6402-2008 Steel forgings—Method for ultrasonic testing
Basic Information
Scope
This standard specifies the protocol provisions for ultrasonic testing of steel forgings, the preparation of operating procedures, personnel qualifications, equipment and accessories, calibration and inspection, testing timing, surface condition, sensitivity, scanning, classification, recording levels, and acceptance criteria. This standard applies to ultrasonic pulse reflection manual testing methods for ferritic-martensitic steel forgings and austenitic and austenitic-ferritic stainless steel forgings. After consultation between the supplier and the buyer, mechanized scanning methods using liquid immersion testing may also be used. Forgings from other organizations may also be used for reference. This standard classifies forgings into four categories based on their shape and production method. Categories 1, 2, and 3 are forgings with simple shapes, and Category 4 is forgings with complex shapes. This standard does not apply to: compact die forgings, steam turbine rotors, and engine forgings.
