Scope

This document specifies the general requirements for ultrasonic testing of steel forgings, testing equipment, comparison specimens, testing implementation, classification, evaluation, record levels, and acceptance standards, as well as testing reports. This document is applicable to ultrasonic pulse reflection testing of ferritic, martensitic, and ferritic-martensitic steel forgings, austenitic and austenitic-ferritic stainless steel forgings, and ultrasonic testing of forged high-temperature alloys and alloy steel discs. Steel forgings of other structures can be used as a reference for application.
