Scope

This document describes the method of measuring the wear resistance of rubber using an improved Lambert abrasion tester.
Disc-shaped rubber samples and grinding wheels are pressed tightly against each other under a specified load, and rotated at different linear velocities by an independent drive system. The different velocities cause relative sliding between the samples and the grinding wheels, resulting in wear loss. The test results are expressed in terms of volume loss per unit wear time or unit travel, and/or the wear resistance index compared with the reference rubber material.
