Scope
This standard specifies the determination methods for sulfate in industrial circulating cooling water and boiler water. In this standard, the gravimetric method is suitable for the determination of sulfate content (calculated as SO42- ) not less than 10 mg/L, but not suitable for the determination of sulfate in industrial circulating cooling water using barium salt scale inhibitors; the spectrophotometric method is suitable for the determination of sulfate content (calculated as SO42- ) ranging from 5 mg/L to 200 mg/L; and the potentiometric titration method is suitable for the determination of sulfate (calculated as SO42- ) content ranging from 5 mg/L to 1,000 mg/L.
