Scope

This document specifies the installation conditions, materials, cable structure, performance, and requirements for digital communication cables with transmission characteristics of 100 MHz and below, used for horizontal layer cabling. These cables include designs with twisted pairs shielded, overall shielded, and unshielded cables.
This document is applicable to the horizontal layer cabling systems defined in ISO/IEC 11801 (all parts), as well as to various communication systems specified in corresponding detailed specifications.
The cables specified in this document are suitable for operation under the voltage and current specified by the communication system, and are not intended for use in low-impedance power supplies such as public power supply systems.
