Scope
This standard specifies the most important parameters for characterizing X-ray energy spectrometers (EDS) primarily composed of semiconductor detectors, preamplifiers, and signal processing systems. This standard is only applicable to EDS using the principle of solid-state ionization. This standard only stipulates the minimum requirements for such EDS used in conjunction with electron probes (EPMA) or scanning electron microscopes (SEM). How to conduct the analysis is not within the scope of this standard.
