Scope

This part applies to all machinery (fixed and mobile) that must have fixed entry facilities.
This part applies to stairs, steps, and railings that are components of machines.
This part may also apply to stairs, steps, and railings used for entering buildings installed as part of the building, assuming the main function of this part of the building is to provide fixed facilities for entering the machine.
This part also applies to stairs, steps, and railings that are not permanently fixed to the machine, and may need to be removed or moved to the side during certain operations of the machine (for example, replacing tools on a large press).
