Scope

This standard specifies the use of hardness measurement methods to determine the effect of rubber gradually hardening over time due to crystallization. It is limited to materials with an initial hardness of 10 IRHD to 85 IRHD at the test temperature. This standard is applicable to the determination of raw rubber, uncured (mixed) rubber, and vulcanized rubber. It is mainly suitable for rubbers with obvious crystallization tendencies at low temperatures, such as chloroprene rubber and natural rubber. This standard is not applicable to rapidly crystallizing materials that reach a relatively high degree of crystallinity within 15 minutes at the test temperature.
