Scope

This regulation applies to the initial verification, subsequent verification, and in-use inspection of portable X-ray and gamma radiation dose equivalent (rate) meters and monitors. The ambient dose equivalent H*(10) and dose equivalent rate H·*(10) are generated by external X-ray and gamma radiation, with an energy range of 80 keV to 15 MeV.
This regulation does not apply to the verification of passive measurement devices such as film dosimeters, thermoluminescent dosimeters, or quartz wire electrometers.
