Scope
This document specifies the sample preparation method for analyzing particles in powders using an energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) or a wavelength dispersive spectrometer (WDS) installed on an electron probe microanalyzer (EPMA) or a scanning electron microscope (SEM). According to the analysis purpose and particle size, the preparation methods for powder particle samples are classified.
This document is applicable to inorganic particle sizes ranging from 100 nm to 100 μm.
This document is not applicable to some special applications, such as forensic analysis or trace analysis.
