GB/T 21209-2025 AC electrical machines used in power drive systems—Application guide

Scope

This document describes the performance characteristics of AC motors powered by frequency converters and clarifies the design principles of motors applied in frequency-converter-driven operation. As part of the power transmission system, this document also specifies the interface parameters between the motor and the frequency converter and their mutual interactions, including installation guidelines, but excluding the voltage at the power supply interface, which is described in IEC TS 61800-8.
The general requirements of other relevant parts of the IEC 60034 series of standards also apply to the motors within the scope of this document.
For motors operating in potentially explosive gas environments, additional requirements for dust explosion protection are specified in the IEC 60079 series.
Safety is not the main focus of this document, but some of the recommendations it provides involve safety issues that must be considered.
If the frequency converter manufacturer provides specific installation recommendations, these recommendations should be prioritized and followed before referring to this document.
