Scope

This document specifies the requirements for protective shields and other protective measures. Protective shields and protective measures are used to reduce the mechanical hazards caused by unbalanced rotors at the measurement stations of centrifugal (rotating) balancing machines. These hazards arise during the operation of balancing machines when balancing various types of rotors and different balancing states. This document defines different protection levels for protective shields and other protective measures and specifies the scope of application for each protection level. This document does not include devices for adjusting the mass distribution of rotors and devices for transporting rotors, although some of them are assembled at the measurement stations. This document does not include special performance of protective shields, such as reducing noise, reducing wind resistance, or vacuuming (these requirements may apply to balancing rotors with blades at balancing speeds).
