Scope

This document specifies the safety requirements for test or measurement circuits. Such test and measurement circuits are connected to devices or circuits other than measurement equipment for testing or measurement purposes.
These include measurement circuits that are part of electrical testing and measurement equipment, laboratory equipment, or process control equipment. These circuits in the equipment have additional protective measures between the circuit and the operator.
For example, test and measurement circuits can:
——Measure the voltage in the circuits of other equipment;
——Measure the temperature of independent equipment via thermocouples;
——Measure the strain of independent equipment via strain gauges;
——Apply voltage or current to the circuit to analyze or test new designs.
This document focuses on basic safety requirements and is primarily intended for use in product safety standards for related products mentioned in the scope. According to the principles set forth in IEC Guide 104 and ISO/IEC Guide 51, technical committees should also use this document when formulating relevant standards for products similar to those mentioned in the scope of this document.
