Scope

1.1 This standard specifies the method for determining the total sulfur content of petroleum and petroleum products that are liquid under single-phase and room temperature conditions, or that become liquid after appropriate heating, or that are soluble in hydrocarbon solvents. This standard is applicable to the determination of the total sulfur content of diesel, jet fuel, kerosene, other distillate oils, naphtha, residual oils, lubricating oil base oils, hydraulic oils, crude oil, automotive gasoline, alcohol-containing gasoline, and biodiesel. 1.2 The combined measurement limit value of this standard, calculated using the ASTM D6259 statistical process, is 3 mg/kg.
