YY 0573.3-2005 Sterile hypodermic syringes for single use—Part 3:Auto-disable syringes for fixed dose immunization
Basic Information
Scope
This part of YY 0573 specifies the characteristics and performance of disposable sterile syringes made of plastic materials and stainless steel, which are used for aspirating vaccines or injecting them immediately after vaccination. When delivering a fixed dose of vaccine, the syringe will automatically fail. This part does not specify the design requirements for self-destructive features, which are determined by the manufacturer at their discretion. This part does not apply to insulin syringes (specified in YY 0497-2005), glass syringes (specified in ISO 595), syringes with motor-driven injection pumps (specified in ISO 78862), self-destructive syringes with non-fixed doses, and syringes pre-filled with drug solutions. The compatibility of drug solutions/vaccines is not covered in this standard. Note: The standard for syringes with anti-reuse features in Part 4 of ISO 7886 is currently being drafted.
