Scope

This document specifies the design, installation, operation and maintenance, and evaluation methods of the mooring system for floating marine energy conversion devices (MECs).
This document is applicable to the mooring systems of all floating marine energy conversion devices of any size or type in open water conditions. For more detailed information on the various related aspects of the mooring system design process, please refer to the existing mooring standards. This document focuses on addressing the special requirements of different marine energy conversion devices, rather than duplicating existing standards or related process flows. Although this document sets forth requirements for anchoring capacity, the detailed analysis of the geotechnical substrate and the design of the anchor are beyond the scope of this document's description.
