Scope

This standard specifies the requirements for pure argon and high-purity argon, the test methods, and the packaging, marking, storage, transportation, and safety thereof. This standard applies to gaseous and liquid pure argon and high-purity argon extracted from air and synthetic ammonia tail gas by cryogenic methods, as well as pure argon and high-purity argon obtained by purification methods. They are mainly used in industries such as metal smelting and welding, semiconductor manufacturing, electric light sources, preparation of standard samples, and scientific research. Molecular formula: Ar. Relative molecular mass: 39.948 (based on the 2001 International Atomic Weight Table).
