Scope

This standard specifies the safety technical requirements and test procedures for the design and structure of hand-held hedge trimmers powered by gasoline engines (hereinafter referred to as hedge trimmers).
This standard provides methods to eliminate or reduce various hazards caused by the use of hedge trimmers and stipulates the requirements for information on safe operating guidelines provided by manufacturers. This standard outlines all serious hazards, dangerous situations, and incidents associated with the normal use of hedge trimmers (see Chapter 4).
This standard applies to hedge trimmers with an engine displacement of less than 80 cm3.
