Scope

This document specifies the requirements for the material, mechanical, and physical properties, test methods, inspection, marking, and labeling of self-tapping screws when tested under environmental temperatures of 10℃ to 35℃.
This document applies to self-tapping screws made of carburized steel with thread specifications ranging from ST 2.2 to ST 9.5, and whose threads comply with the requirements of GB/T 5280.
Self-tapping screws are used to form mating threads in metal plates, and their own threads will not deform. Self-tapping screws are not used to withstand preload, even though they can withstand low levels of tensile stress after installation.
