Scope

This standard specifies the analysis methods for industrial ethoxylated fatty amines. It includes the following measurements: determination of pH in a water-methanol medium; determination of water content; determination of sulfate ash; determination of the distribution of primary amine value, secondary amine value, and tertiary amine value; determination of oxyethylene content; determination of free polyethylene glycol content; and inspection of polyethylene glycol. This standard is applicable to industrial ethoxylated fatty amines in the form of tablets, blocks, slurries, or liquids, but does not include any substances unrelated to their manufacturing process. It is not applicable to ethoxylated derivatives of amide-based amines and imidazolines.
