Scope

This standard specifies the test methods for the pH value, water content, free alkali or free acid, total alkalinity, petroleum ether extractable matter, ether extractable matter after acid hydrolysis (mixed industrial fatty alcohols), sodium sulfate, and sodium chloride content of surface-active agents in the industrial sodium alkyl sulfate industry.
This standard is applicable to the testing and evaluation of powdered, slurry, and liquid (aqueous solution) industrial sodium alkyl sulfates (excluding any products unrelated to their preparation).
