Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification and marking, order content, dimensions, appearance and allowable deviations, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, storage, transportation, and quality certificates for plastic-coated steel ropes used in motor vehicle actuation assemblies, such as handbrake actuation, door and window actuation, trunk lid actuation, throttle actuation, clutch actuation, and air intake actuation. It also applies to plastic-coated steel ropes used in actuation assemblies of yachts, ships, aircraft, and other vehicles (hereinafter referred to as plastic-coated ropes).
