Scope

This document applies to metal oxide varistors (hereinafter referred to as "MOVs") used in electrical equipment with an AC voltage not exceeding 1,000 V (rms), 50/60 Hz, and/or a DC voltage not exceeding 1,500 V, which are used to suppress transient overvoltages to protect the safety of electrical equipment.
The purpose of this document is to specify the following for MOVs used in low-voltage electrical equipment:

Metal oxide varistors for low-voltage surge protectors comply with the requirements of GB/T 18802.331.
Note: Electrical equipment with an AC rated voltage of 1,140 V can refer to this document for implementation. Requirements regarding the performance of the electrical equipment shall be determined through consultation between the manufacturer and the user.
